Mr. Proctor Roosevelt Roddey, 82 of Charlotte, passed away on Saturda, April 17, 2021 at his residence. He was born on February 21, 1939 in Catawba, SC. He was one of thirteen children born to the late Theodore and Meta Roddey. Proctor was a graduate of Emmett Scott High School class of 1957. He attended Central Piedmont Community College and studied Auto Mechanics. Proctor worked for Celanese and retired as a supervisor after 34 years.
Proctor was united in Holy Matrimony to Carolyn Moore on December 19, 1965 and to this union two children was born, Derrick and Alicia.
Proctor was a faithful member of Second Calvary Baptist Church and served with various groups for many years. In addition, he was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, Choir Member, and a leader for the Marriage Ministry.
He was also an avid and excellent gardener, well known for his watermelons. He also was an aspiring wine maker. Proctor was beloved by all who knew him and will be remembered for his love of God and family and side-splitting sense of humor.
Proctor was preceded in death by his siblings, Willie Love Roddey, James Roddey (Cynthia), Magnolia Roddey, Calle Mae Wright, Mildred Roddey Ruffin, Meta Roddey Smith. He leaves to cherish his wife, Carolyn of 55 years; children, Derrick R. Roddey of Charlotte, NC, Alicia R. Ganaway (Gary), of Farmington Hills, MI, granddaughters, Robbie and Carolyn. Siblings; Theodore Roddey (Bertha) of Rock Hill, SC, Osbey Roddey of Rock Hill, SC, Elmer Roddey of Laguana Niguel CA, Freedonia (George) Davis, of Rock Hill, SC, Eldora (Roy) Kelly, of Washington, DC, Margie (Raymond) Holman of Rock Hill, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
