Obituary

On Monday, August 14, 2023, our community sadly lost a father, brother, nephew, husband, cousin, and friend to many when Ralph Jacob Curry peacefully passed away after a brief illness at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, Charlotte, North Carolina.

Ralph was born August 6, 1960, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina to James and Gertrude Bash Curry.

Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved first wife Ann Enlow Curry, his parents, his brother Leon Curry, and his sisters Georgetta Rush and Joann Marshall.

Ralph was educated in the Public School System of Berkeley County, Moncks Corner, SC, and graduated from Berkeley High School where he was a member of the Varsity Basketball team for two (2) years. Upon graduating high school in 1978, Ralph went to CETA Training School and received his certification as a CNC machinist, and in later years, completed several other certifications in his career field. In 1979, Ralph decided to leave Moncks Corner and move to Charlotte, NC, where his older brother Huey was already living. In 1987, Ralph began working as a machinist at Pneumafil, where he worked for almost 30 years. Most recently he worked at Burkert in a similar role. Ralph was very detailed and loved the type of work he did. He did not mind helping the new and younger guys set-up and program the machines "the right way". He always arrived to work early in the morning and was willing to work overtime on weekends if necessary.

On April 1, 1988, Ralph followed in his father's footsteps and became a member of the Prince Hall Masons, Paul Drayton Lodge No.7. From day one he was dedicated to his lodge and his brothers and even had his own class in 2018. He served as the Senior Deacon for 25 years and was the current Head Chairman of the Trustee Board. Whether it was helping during the Annual Family and Friend's Cookout in the summer, assisting in selling tickets to the annual Christmas Ball, bringing in new members, or helping with the young men, you could count on him! Ralph was proud to be a Mason and typically wore a hat or windbreaker jacket to show it.

Ralph was a devoted family man. In 1985, he met Ann Enlow. On September 29, 1990, Ralph married Ann and together they had two beautiful daughters: Etonia and Anaya Curry. Before her passing, they were married for 23 years. Ralph was a dedicated father and grandfather who loved his "girls" and his "grand baby". Simply put, he loved his family! After many years, while attending Faith CME Church, where he was a member, Ralph met Andrea Mason and married on April 8, 2023.

In his free time, he enjoyed working on cars. If you ever came over to the house, you would be surprised at how many cars he had in the yard! While there were many that did not move, he would always crank them up once a month. For those who knew him, you have probably heard him say "I know that's right!" as least once in a conversation. Ralph constantly had a smile on his face and loved laughing and making jokes. He was always dancing, even when there wasn't a dance floor, he created his own. If there was music, it

was no telling if he was going to sing, whistle, or bust out doing his moves! Ralph was such a joy to be around!!

Ralph's memory will be cherished by his daughters, Etonia and Anaya; his wife Andrea, his siblings: James Huey (Vanessa) Curry, E. Gail (Jasper) Addison, and John (Shaneka) Cleveland; granddaughter: Elizabeth Curry; Uncle: Clarence (Gwendolyn) Curry; Aunt: Sandra Curry; a host of nieces and nephews; Special Brother: Leroy Cordes; and a host of other relatives and friends.
