Ralph "Skippy" Herbin, 78, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.

Ralph Holt Herbin, lovingly known as “Skippy” by family and friends, passed away on December 30, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, and later made his home in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Ralph was a proud graduate of James B. Dudley High School, Class of 1965. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 1965 to 1969, achieving the rank of Sergeant. During his service, he completed two tours in Vietnam as an avionics and helicopter air crew. He was honorably discharged with many medals and awards in recognition of his service to our country. Ralph was a lifetime member of Holmes Grove Methodist Church in Greensboro, NC.

A hardworking and independent man, Ralph was a business owner and founder of Herbin Designs. He was also known for his work as a tree cutter, taking pride in honest, hands-on labor.

Ralph was preceded in death by his grandmother, Zula McAdoo Herbin; his mother, Earline Herbin; his sister, Brenda Herbin; and his brothers, Charles “Pee Wee” Herbin and Richard Herbin.

He is survived by his cousins, a host of relatives, and many friends who will cherish his memory.

A public viewing and time to pay respects will be held on Wednesday, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at Grier Funeral Home in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Later that same day, a graveside service and interment will take place at 2:30 PM at the Veterans Cemetery in Salisbury, North Carolina.
