Mr. Ralph Cedric Leach, 66 of Charlotte, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020 at Atrium Health-Main. He was born in Rowland, North Carolina on January 20, 1954.
He was the son of the late Ralph Damon Leach and Gladys Inman Leach.
The family relocated to Charlotte in 1961 where he grew up in the historic Brooklyn neighborhood in the historic Brooklyn neighborhood and attended Myers Street Elementary. Following "urban renewal" Ralph moved to Clanton Park where he attended Sedgefield Middle School.
During his youth, Ralph enjoyed playing checkers and was an avid chess player.
He was well known for excelling in sports-especially football. He developed a love of music from many genres but most of all, he had a heart for Reggae.
In 1972, Ralph graduated from Olympic High School.
He attended Central Piedmont Community College where he was trained and certified as a Welder. For many years, Ralph was a top-notch welder at Duke Power's McGuire Nuclear Plant.
A man of strong entrepreneurial spirit, Ralph pursued his own Limousine business and took pride in providing this service-especially for members of the Charlotte Black community. When his health no longer permitted, Ralph retired, spending time with and enjoying the pleasures of his family and friends.
Ralph accepted Jesus Christ and became an active "Partaker" at the New Life Fellowship Church. In spite of his declining health, he never complained.
His faith and spirituality gave him a peaceful and calm demeanor.
"Cedric" as Ralph was fondly called by family and friends leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Trilby Parks Meeks; two daughters, Tajia Leach (Whitney) and Tanea Pettis; one brother, Darryl Leach; one sister, Joyce Dindyal (Winston); two grandchildren, Sayuri and Legend, and a host of other family members and friends.
