Mr. Ray Vaughn Dennis passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023.

Mr. Dennis was born in Mecklenburg County to Richard and Grace Dennis. He was a long-time member of Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church where he served in multiple roles including a preacher's steward for decades. Later, he joined First United Presbyterian Church and was active on the Men's Council.

Mr. Dennis graduated from J.H. Gunn High School and had several occupations including a server, barber, real estate agent, and more recently, a plate maker for over thirty years.

In 1965, he met Jean Dennis. They were married on June 4, 1967 and their union bore three children.

Mr. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Dennis and Grace Dennis and his siblings, Richard, Paul, James Franklin, Sr., Bessie Beatty, and Ethel Lowery.

He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Crosby of Baltimore, Barbara Belton (Chester) of Mt. Holly, Stella Tucker (Augustine) of Charlotte; children, Monique Alexander (IVan), Michael Dennis, and Mark Dennis (Sharnetta), grandchildren, Sean Alexander and Jessica Alexander; and a host of other relatives and friends.
