Obituary

Rebecca Khadijh Brown "Bunny"  was born on August 7, 1953 in Mullins, South Carolina to Odessia Vera Mae (Brown) Breeze and raised by the late Paul V. Breeze. She made her peaceful heavenly departure on March 31, 2023.

Rebecca was the eldest of four and loved being a big sister. She was raised in Marion, SC and spent her teenage and young adult years in Brooklyn, NY with her family. She graduated from Sarah J. Hale High School in Brooklyn, NY. She moved to Hillsborough, NC in 1978 and lived there until moving to Charlotte, NC in 2016 to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters.

Rebecca's love for doing hair led to her attending beauty school and you could always find her doing hair for family and friends on the weekends. She also had a flare for fashion, silver jewelry and shades. She would not leave the house without her silver bracelets, necklaces and shades on. During the years Rebecca worked in retail at Dillard's and Loehmann's Retail Store. She retired from PHE, Inc. in Hillsborough in 2010.

Rebecca was known by all as having a warm and caring spirit. She would give you her last and always go out her way to make sure you felt welcomed in her presence. She was the "life of the party" and loved being around family and friends. One of the things she cherished most was the relationship she had with her daughter and granddaughters who affectionately called her "Nana." She took a lot of pride as well in being a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend.

Rebecca was known by family as "Bunny" and friends as "Khadijh." You couldn't help but be drawn to her big smile and personality when she entered the room. She was notorious for always acknowledging someone's birthday on "Facebook" or sending you a message just to say "Hello."

Rebecca is preceded in death by her only brother, Vester J. Breeze.

Her memory and legacy will be cherished in the hearts of her devoted daughter, Tasha Rowell (Melvin) of Charlotte, NC, her mother Odessia Vera Mae Breeze of Hillsborough, NC, four sisters, Brenda Breeze of Hillsborough, NC, Valerie Breeze of Hillsborough, NC, Paulette Pettie (Paul) of Cornelius, NC and Chandra Breeze of Greensboro, NC and one aunt, Mamie Hemingway of Marion, SC; two granddaughters who she loved dearly, London and Gerren Rowell. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
