It is with broken hearts, we announce the passing of Renee' C. King, 72 of Charlotte, on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Atrium Health - Cabarrus. Renee' was nothing less than an extraordinary mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She touched the lives of so many and will be missed beyond belief.
Renee' was born in Roanoke, VA, on May 31, 1950. She was the daughter of Edgar and Ima Jean Claytor. Renee' grew up in Radford, VA and relocated to Austin, TX as a young adult. She later moved to San Diego, CA to raise her family and remained there for several years before moving to Laurel, MD. She attended J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College where she studied Computer Programming. Renee' worked and retired from US Airways/American Airlines as an Executive Administrative in 2006. Not ready to stop working, Renee' 's zeal and resilience relocated her to Charlotte, NC where she began her second career with Wells Fargo as a Executive Administrative Assistant. An avid football fan, Renee' enjoyed rooting for her favorite football team, spending time with family and dear friends. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Raun Mercer King; her parents, Edgar and Ima Jean Clayton; as well as her brothers, Randy Claytor and Joseph Carter.
Surviving family members include her loving daughter, Latrice Montez King (Myran Wilson) of Charlotte, NC; beloved nephew, Marvin Clark of Washington, DC; six grandchildren, Antonio Montez King (Melissa Pledger) of Charlotte, NC, Temeria Janea Chavez (Kory) of Fate, TX; Henecci Ameenah Renee King of Puyallup, WA, Raun Mercer King Jr. (Ingrid Leon) of Winston-Salem, NC, Drafton Larnell Bunch II of Salt Lake City, UT, and Myran Clark Wilson, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; as well as seven great-grandchildren, Mekell Antonio Pledger, Oliver Acosta Chavez, Riley Renee Harper, Rooney Maeve Chavez, Eli Owen Chavez, Caspian Lee King, and Messiah Leon King.
In addition, she leaves behind her siblings, Harold Claytor (Gladys) of Winston-Salem, NC; Michael Claytor (Sandy) of Dublin, VA Janett Claytor Miller of San Diego, CA, Teresa Hubbard (Dwight) of San Diego, CA, Vonetta Claytor of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
