Mr. Ricky Nelson McCoy 61, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Atrium Main.

Ricky Nelson McCoy was born on March 28, 1963, in Chesterfield, South Carolina, the third of five children to Jimmy and Orgire Ree McCoy.  He passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

Ricky attended Charlotte Mecklenburg schools, graduating from North Mecklenburg High School, Class of 1981. He continued his education by attending Johnson C. Smith University and Central Piedmont Community College for small engine repair.

He worked as a landscaper for his father, and later worked for Beatties Ford Hardware.  Ricky had a knack for repairing anything from mowers to heaters and everything in between.  Later he started his own business, Rick's Small Engine Repair, that he conducted with pride and success through the end.

Ricky was married to Christina Nash McCoy, and their union was blessed with a son, Braxton.  Ricky was an excellent provider for his family.

He leaves his love and spirit for his family to cherish and is survived by his son, Braxton; wife, Christina; parents, Jimmy and Orgire Ree McCoy; two brothers, Jimmy McCoy (Marla) and James Kenneth McCoy (Pam); one sister, Michelle; two cousins he viewed as sisters, Patricia Jackson (Gerald) and Mary Barringer (Sam); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and valued friends to carry on in his memory.
