Mr. Ricky McCullough, 65, of Charlotte NC departed this life to be with his heavenly father on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at his residence.
Ricky was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 1, 1958, to the late William McCullough, Jr. and the late Janie Louise Thompson Brown. He moved to Charlotte, North Carolina at an early age where he attended Charlotte Mecklenburg schools.
Ricky became a member of Word of Hope Church in South Carolina in 1999 where he served as a deacon, sung on the choir, the Praise Team, and drove the church van.
Ricky worked at Food Lion as a produce manager, but later decided to become an entrepreneur which he loved so much. Ricky was a hard worker and he loved being his own boss.
As a teenager, Ricky met Betty Bankhead and they became childhood sweethearts. They were married on November 12, 1977. Ricky loved his family and loved to be called "Big Daddy" by his grandchildren. Ricky was a joyous and happy spirited man. He never complained about anything. He enjoyed life to the fullest and his affectionate smile would brighten up your day.
In his leisure time, he loved to sit in his recliner and watch TV. Some of his favorite shows were Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, Football and Channel 9 News, just to name a few. His hobbies were fishing, playing horseshoes and spending time with family. And we can't forget, he loved to dance; he was the life of the party.
Ricky leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Betty McCullough; three daughters, Angela McCullough, Pamela McCullough (Lorenzo McDowell), Stacey McCullough Seigle (Jerry Seigle); ten grandchildren, Bryant McCullough, Brianne McCullough, Demarcus McDowell, Adrienne McDowell, Aleecia McDowell, Brandon McCullough, Melody Seigle, Jeremy Seigle, Olivia Seigle, Kevin Seigle and one great-grandchild, Elijah McCullough Boulware. He is also survived by one brother, Larry McCullough (Jackie); one sister, Cynthia Williams (James); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends.
