Mr. Robert Samuel Ross, 88 of Charlotte, better known as "Sam," humbly bowed to God's will and peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday November 10, 2020.

Robert was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on April 24, 1932 to the late Harry James Ross, Sr. and Beatrice Porter Ross.

Robert graduated from Second Ward High School and enlisted in the United States Navy where he served honorably for four years.  He was a long term employee for Rea Brothers Plumbing, Lance Packaging and for the City of Charlotte before retiring in 1998.

Sam Ross, as all his friends called him, fully embraced and lived life with an attitude that he was going to show you how to have a good time.  He was loud, he was rough; and he was unconditionally loved by everyone.  He had a unique ability to connect with people; he never met a stranger.  He was a hard worker who loved to wear his work uniforms on all occasions.  He wore work clothes when fishing, when dancing and more than 20 years after retirement, he wore work clothes while watching cowboy movies.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Earline Ross; two brothers, Harry James Ross Jr. and Johnny Ross; and three sisters, Shirley Ann Ross, Bertha Lee Kelly and Debra Ross.

Robert is survived two sons, Vincent Ross (Marie) and Levander Ross (Marian); three daughters, Renita Vanstory, Pamela Ross, Charlene Ross; fourteen grandchildren, Timothy, Demico Guy (Renee), Nakita, Jacqueline, Latoya Harvey (Robert), Michael, LaTeia Clement (Lee), Valencia Teal (Ricardo), Maria, Levander Jr., LaNora, Cieara, Jamal and Jared; two sisters, Betty Covington, Lillie Robinson; and host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
