Mr. Robert Thomas Rucker, age 58 of Charlotte, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Atrium Health - Main.  He was born in Charlotte, NC, on November 15, 1962 and was the son of the late John Thomas Rucker and the late Dorothy Matthew.

Robert, affectionately known as Bob, graduated from West Charlotte High School in 1981.  After graduation, Bob developed the "Rucker" work ethic from his late father, John Rucker, and his late uncles, Aubrey and Lewis Rucker, as well as his late stepfather, Horace Matthew.  As a result, Bob frequently worked two jobs simultaneously, was always on time, and rarely (if ever) missed a day at work.

Robert was a long-time warehouse forklift driver.  He also held a long-standing, part-time position as a security professional at the former Adam's Mark Hotel-Players Club.  He enjoyed sharing stories about the many celebrities, such as NBA and NFL players, that he met during his employment at the Hotel.

He was devoted uncle to his nephew, Marquez Matthew.  Robert dedicated every Saturday to spending time with Marquez.  They enjoyed playing basketball, eating out, and just hanging out doing "guy stuff."

Robert was an avid football and basketball fan.  He loved Carolina basketball and was a LOYAL Dallas Cowboy football fan.  No one could ever speak ill of his Dallas Cowboys, especially if they lost the game.  Furthermore, if they did lose, Bob would not talk about it.

He was a very independent individual and was determined to live life his way, even after health issues impeded his ability to do so.  Robert never allowed his medical limitations to affect his ability to strive for the best that life had to offer.

Robert is survived by his sisters, Tracey Matthew and Dorothy Rucker-Warlick; nephew, Marquez Matthew; two great-nephews and one great-niece, four aunts, Lunell Stewart, Louise Rucker, Lillie Matthew, all of Charlotte, NC, and Mary Rucker of Detroit, MI; uncle, George Matthew of Charlotte, NC; special cousin, Bobbie Sue Walker; special childhood friends, James McCullough, Jr. (AKA Lil'Mack), Jimmy Robinson, Lenny Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.
