Mr. Robert Walker, 88, of Charlotte NC departed this life on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster.

Robert Walker, son of the late Grady and Jeanette Walker, was born on December 22, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, 88 years ago.  He departed this life on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gwendolyn Jones; brother, Gerald Walker; sister-in-law, Mary G. Connor; and brother-in-law, Samuel Givens, Jr.

Robert met his loving wife, Julia, in 1974 and they married in 1984.  He attended schools in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Boy's High School.  He retired from the New York City Transit Authority after 35 years of devoted service.  Robert and Julia moved to Charlotte, NC in 1990, after his retirement.

He leaves to mourn, Julia, his wife of 51 years, five children, Racium Sahu, Valda Walker, Derrick Walker (Alicia), Cheryl Walker and Monique Walker; mother of the children, Clara Walker; sisters-in-law, Betty G. Brown (Richard), Dorothy J. Givens and Evelyn Fulwiley (Vernon, Sr.); eleven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He also leaves Mrs. Heppie Davis, a very dear and devoted special friend to him and wife Julia.  Robert will be greatly missed by all.
