When Robyn and Marilyn Gool were preparing to go from Detroit, Michigan to Nassau, Bahamas to be married in December of 1974, Robyn's father asked them to bring back a boy. He was hoping for a grandson. October 4, 1975 God made that dream come true. Robyn Johms Gool was delivered at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Not only did he bring joy to his grandfather, he brought joy to many others. It was never a dull moment in his home as he brought many opportunities to smile, laugh and marvel. He was a very unusual child and remained a unique and interesting person his entire life. Being a very sociable person, he enjoyed meeting and interacting with others.
Robyn was known by his middle name in most all relationships. Johms was a kind man who cared deeply about his family and friends. Social media became a tool and outlet to assist him in fulfilling the desire to help others. He also had a YouTube channel for the sole purpose of educating as many as possible to make their lives better. As a very fugal person, He loved sharing strategies for saving money.
September 13, 1997, he married Celina Denise Leach. They had two sons and two daughters; and from beginning to end, he took his responsibilities seriously. He loved his family and supported them in whatever they were doing, especially sports since he was an outstanding athlete in high school and an avid sports fan. He and Celina raised their children in church and helped them become involved in various activities. The whole family participated in touching and changing lives as faithful members of Victory Christian Center.
Robyn Johms accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized with the Holy Spirit by the time he started school. Being a gifted reader as a child, by the time he was 5 years old he was reading the Bible on a adult level. At that time, he could also find any Bible verse you named without assistance. He learned the scriptures first at home and also in church. His Christian education was later supported by attending Christian schools. By the time he was an adult, Johms was well-versed in the Word of God. Later in life, he became a Bible Class teacher at the VCC for the 16 to 18 year olds. He also had the opportunity to teach the Word of God in different churches.
After graduating for Victory Christian Center School, Johms attended Oral Roberts University for a year and then attended Central Piedmont Community College for a brief period, obtaining certifications in Microsoft Office, A+ and Networking. Working with computers was a natural gift. His talents led him to be selected to participate in preparing the IRS computers for the infamous "Y2K". He went on to start his own business and was contracted to service all the Information Technology (IT) needs of the VCC ministry, including the schools. He also did IT work for others outside of the city of Charlotte. He was an industrious individual and could never identify with laziness. Always so passionate about everything he did, he worked diligently in all of his projects. If he was going to do something, he wanted it done well.
J ohns as very concerned about the moral decline in the world and held firmly to Biblical standards for living. Tuesday, February 25, 2020, while at his home, he transitioned to Heaven to rest from labors and enjoy peace with the saints who went before him. Until we see him again, he will be greatly missed by those left to cherish his memories. Those who knew him best are grateful for the time he spent on earth. Among them are his wife Celina, his 2 sons Robyn Johms, Jr. (aka Jay) and Jalen, his 2 daughters Zoe and Zaria, his parents Pastor Robyn and Marilyn Gool, his mother-in-law Darlene Leach, father-in-law Zachary Leach, his sisters Marilyn Joi White (Brent) and Sanchia Chapman (Matthew), sister-in-law Raquel Floyd, five nephews, three nieces, two god-children and a host of other relatives and friends.
We celebrate a life well-lived and praise God for all He did through Robyn Johms Gool, Sr.
To God be the glory!
