Ron C. McDowell (known as "RonMac") was born July 20, 1968 in Mullins, SC to Molly Bell McDowell. Ron transitioned from this earthly life on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Atrium Health Main surrounded by loved ones.
Ron was a graduate of Fairmont High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and later joined the Air National Guard and was honorably discharged. He was employed for many years at Frito-Lay and retired in 2018 after 25 plus years of service with Ricoh of Charlotte, North Carolina. After early retirement, Ron then became a business owner following his passion with his wife at Distinctive Specialties.
Ron was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason at Grier Heights Lodge #752 on January 14 th , 2010 and celebrated 13 years in Masonry this year. Ron held many positions in the lodge; Secretary, Junior Warden, Senior Warden, Pass Master (2015-2018), Instructor and Trustee to name a few. He served them all with Fervency, Zest and Zeal. He was also a member of Ramses Temple #51, a 33 rd degree member of Charlotte Consistory #35 and Amaranth Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #663. Ron was a member of the Swank's Social Club of Charlotte, NC.
At an early age, he joined Ebenezer Baptist Church, Marietta, NC and served as a Jr. Usher. He later joined New St. Paul Holiness Church, Mt. Holly, NC where he served as an Usher and in the A/V Ministry.
Ron was well known to be a generous giver, a loving supporting son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle. If there was a known need from family or friends, you could count on him for anything from financial needs, guidance, and prayers. He really enjoyed his grand-boys, riding on his Harley and working on his 1966 Classic Mustang.
Ron was preceded in death by his grandparents John & Elizabeth McDowell and Bro-cousins Ernest McDowell and David McDowell.
Those left to cherish his fond memories is his mother Molly Bell McDowell, beloved wife LaVonne McDowell, son Marquis McDowell, daughter Klarc Bryant, grandsons Nolan McDowell, Collin Dial & Keegan McDowell, brother Spencer McDowell (Annissa), bro-cousins; John McDowell, Michael McDowell (Ernestine), Meredith (Ken) McDowell, Ricky Dale McDowell, Billy Ray McDowell, nieces; Tunisia McDowell-Ellis (Marrin), TaLisa McDowell-Whipple ( Anthony) & Jordan Ancruem, nephews; William Colson & Trace Ancruem, In-Laws; Bobby & Susan Nichols and Cullen Sr. & Vivian Marshall, sister-in-law; Lakesha Ancruem, brother-in-law; Cullen Jr. Marshall, aunt Ella Rogers, Romel McNeil, Mary Kirby & Martha Coleman. And a host of supportive nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish their memories of our dear Ron.
