Mr. Ronald Lovett, 66 of Charlotte, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Novant Health-Presbyterian.   He was known to friends and family as Ronnie was born January 5, 1954 in Hampton, VA to Lawrence E. Lovett, Sr. (deceased) and Thelma Banks Lovett.  A twin and the youngest of four children, he graduated in 1972 from York High School in Yorktown, VA.

In 1976, he went on to receive a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Virginia State University (VSU) where he pledged Iota Phi Theta Fraternity.  Throughout his life, he remained loyal to the concept of brotherhood.  He married his college sweetheart, Joyce Walton in 1978, and after 19 years of service at Philip Morris, Ron retired as Line Supervisor and remained in Charlotte.

Ron was known for his quick wit and his passion for sports, especially football.  A fan of the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys, he often proudly wore Cowboys attire, much to the dismay of his extended family, who supported the Washington Redskins.  He also had a strong appreciation for "old school music" and jazz.  One of his proudest moments was when his daughter decided to play the alto saxophone in grade school.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, engaging in deep conversations and giving advice.  His voice would boom over others in a crowded room, giving joy and laughter to those around him.  He always remained true to himself and honest with others.  The newest joy in his life was his grandson, of whom he frequently shared pictures and videos with his family members. Ron had a propensity to help others and a kind personality.  He will be truly missed.

Rob will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Joyce, daughter, son-in-law and grandson (Angela, Michael and Alexander Shields).  He is survived by his mother, Thelma Lovett; sister, LaVerne; brothers, Lawrence (Niki), Donald (Dollie); brother-in-law, Ernest; sister-in-law, Sheila (James), 2 nieces and 3 nephews.
