God, our Heavenly Father, retrieved Ronnie Lee Leak on Friday, May 3, 2019 after a sudden death by motor vehicle near Kenansville, North Carolina in Duplin County. He was fully active and able in body at work and at home in the days before his retrieval. He took time to connect with family and friends, as a part of his usual routine, demonstrating the value of people in his life.
He was born October 15, 1964 as a child of Roosevelt Leak and birth mother Elsie Mae Ingram in Rockingham, North Carolina within Richmond County. In Ingram's quick passing after Ronnie's birth, Willie Mae Leak served a Heavenly appointed role as his Earth mother and the only mother he knew.
In life, Ronnie committed and recommitted his life to God through several trials, triumphs, and transformations. In his final days he continued to reach toward God in his spirituality and by staying near the comfort of the church's doorsteps.
He was educated at South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina where he played on the football team. While some of his work revolved around sanitation ans specific assistance at convenience stores in the area, much of his work was spent in the food industry. He had a special connection with co-workers at two Charlotte locations of Church's Chicken on W. Trade Street and Wilkinson Boulevard. He continued to make friends in his last place of employment at the House of Raeford Farms (chicken processing plant) near Rose Hill, North Carolina. Having worked in food manufacturing, food prep, and cooking, Ronnie's work life as truly a life of service.
In departure, Ronnie joins father Roosevelt Leak; mother Elsie Mae Ingram; sister Janet; and other relatives including Bonita Sellers (mother of Kevin). Ronnie is survived by mother Willie Mae Leak; daughter Alysia Leak, and daughter's mother Mary Leak; son Kevin Sellers; sister Sandra Massey; his final companion Diane Williams, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Ronnie gifted a final blessing of sight by donating his corneas to two beneficiaries. While his life has been transitioned into spirit, he will not be forgotten in the time before we meet him again.
