Roosevelt Benjamin "Ben" Chisolm, II found peace on Monday, March 14, 2016. Surrounded by his family, Ben transitioned from this world-unexpectedly for those who loved him but long known by God-after a brief hospital stay.
Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Ben grew up in Fayetteville, NC. He was a graduate of E.E. Smith High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel. At UNC-CH, he became a man of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Ben graduated from UNC-CH with degrees in Criminal Justice and Computer Science. He had a long career in computer network security working in Washington, DC and Charlotte.
Ben had a fierce love for God, his family, his friends, his fraternity and his alma mater. He was loved dearly by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Daphne Tippens Chisolm, son, Maximilian (11), daughter, Lauren (8) of Charlotte, NC; his parents Roosevelt Benjamin and Alicia Chisolm of Fayetteville, NC; his siblings, Milton Chisolm,(Claire) of Chambersburg, PA; Angela Chisolm Townsend (Eric) of Raleigh, NC; and Bentina Chisolm Terry (Antonio) of Pensacola, FL; niece, Alyssa Townsend (Pensacola, FL) and nephews, Christopher Townsend (Seattle, WA), Stephen Townsend (Raleigh, NC) and Julius Chisolm (Hopewell, VA) who adored his quirky style and a bevy of aunts, uncles and cousins. Ben was also godfather to Morgan and Julian Gibson (Springdale, MD).
Ben will be remembered for his beautiful smile, infectious laugh, fierce loyalty, quick wit, love of comic books, science fiction and all things computers, an encyclopedic knowledge of random facts and his passion for a good argument. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Mr. Roosevelt Benjamin "Ben" Chisolm, II funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Grier Memorial Chapel, 115 John McCarroll Avenue, Charlotte. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Garden.
