A life well lived is a precious gift from God who gave the world a life of hope, strength and grace, in the person of Rosa Nell Barringer Grissom. She made the world a better place for many.

"Rose" or "Ma Ma," as she was affectionately called, was born in Charlotte, NC to the late William and Rosella Barringer on a beautiful summer day, July 29 1929. She entered into eternal rest on the eve of October 14 2020 surrounded by family.

She was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System. Rosa later met and married the love of her life, Robert Leroy Grissom To this union, eight children were born.

She accepted Christ in her youth and was a member of New Hampton Presbyterian Church where she co- moderated the Hospitality Ministry before her health declined. She loved the Lord and she loved people, especially children She was known as the community babysitter. She also possessed a welcoming spirit being a great hostess to the many get togethers and fish fries at her home. She was an excellent cook. She always loved listening to her gospel music.

A hard and dedicated worker, she was employed at Green Acres Rest Home and retired from the Methodist Home after many years of service. Being the energetic and caring person that she was, Rosa later became the caregiver for Hester Adams for a number of years Rosa will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and her love for humanity.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leroy Grissom three sons, Walter Louis, Charles Edward and Robert Louis and one daughter, Sandra.

She leaves to cherish fond memories sons, James Grissom and Henry Grissom, both of Charlotte, NC, Ricky Grissom, of Cedar Hill, TX daughter, Roseanna Goins, of Tacoma, WA, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Rosa was one of twelve siblings to which only one survives, a sister, Ms. Martha Barringer of Charlotte, NC, five sisters in law, Clara Barringer of Winston Salem, NC, Mary Barringer, Juanita Barringer, Nancy Morrow and Robbie Grissom, all of Charlotte, NC three brothers in law, Tom Barnette, Willie James Grissom and Henry Grissom of Charlotte a special niece, Stephanie Cureton godchildren, the Reverend Gloria Bolden, Vilma Parker, and Valerie Walthall.
