Roy Nathaniel Sellers, seventy-two, was born on September 30, 1951, in Charlotte, NC, to Leroy and Ophelia Sellers. He peacefully transitioned to eternal life on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the VA Liberty Lane Hospice Center in Salisbury, NC.
Roy attended Second Ward High School and served in the US Army from 1970 to 1974 after being drafted. He later pursued his education, earning his GED from Central Piedmont Community College.
Roy began his career at the Consolidated Engravers Company on East 12th Street in Charlotte where he dedicated many years of service. Known for his construction skills, he also worked at Blythe Construction in Charlotte, contributing significantly to the community.
A resident of Atlanta, GA for over two decades during his career, Roy had a passion for sports, particularly basketball and football, which he enjoyed during his time at Second Ward High School. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys.
Roy was cherished fro his sense of humor, always bringing laughter to those around him with his playful spirit.
He is survived by his daughter, Vanessa Craven and son, Stanley N. Davis; grandchildren, Deontae, Micah Eddings, and Laila Craven and one great-grandchild; sister, Cecelia S. Goodwin (Ferdinand); five nieces; one aunt, Terry S. Hamilton; two uncles, Garfield Sellers and Pladie Sellers; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his oldest brother, David L. James and grandson, Stanley Naquon Taylor.
Roy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him for his laughter, dedication, and love for his family and sports teams.
