Mrs. Ruby Henderson Nivens Alexander, 88, died peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at home in Huntersville, NC.  Ms. Alexander was born January 26, 1928 in Mecklenburg County, the daughter of the late Alexander Edward Henderson and Frankie Mae Currence Henderson.  Ruby attended Barber Scotia College and graduated from the Capital School of Photography in Washington, D.C.  It was in Washington that she met her husband Jehu Nivens of Ruby, SC.  From this union, they had two children, Tawana N. Wilson Allen (Emmanuel) of Charlotte, NC and Hiowana Nivens of the home in Huntersville, NC.  After Jehu's death Ruby married the late Thomas Alexander.  Ms. Alexander is survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous loving relatives and friends.  The funeral will be held  Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Catawba Presbyterian Church, 11401 McCoy Road, Huntersville, NC.  Visitation is at 1:30 pm. and the service begins at 2:00 pm.   Flowers and contributions to Catawba Presbyterian Church are welcome.  Burial will follow at Caldwell Cemetery.
