Ruth Roach Sanchez, 91, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.

Ruth Roach Sanchez peacefully transitioned from this life on January 17, 2026. She was born on September 1, 1934, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Howard Roach and Pearl Caldwell Roach. Ruth was born a twin, sharing a special lifelong bond with her sister, Ruby Roach Satterwhite.

Ruth received her education in Mecklenburg County and graduated from Plato Price High School. Following graduation, she and her twin sister Ruby relocated to Washington, D.C. With the guidance and mentorship of Burdette “Aunt” Brown, Ruth secured employment as a clerk with Pepco, beginning a dedicated career of service.

Affectionately known as “Lil Ruth,” she was admired for her class, style, and sharp, witty sense of humor, a gift she maintained throughout her life. Ruth had a love for travel and enjoyed several trips to the Caribbean. After retiring from the Federal Government, she returned to her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, following the passing of her beloved mother, Pearl Roach, in 1993.

In her youth, Ruth attended the Church of God, where Reverend Columbus Crawford served as minister and her mother sang in the choir. As an adult, she became a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she found joy in studying the Scriptures. She also attended Springfield Memorial Baptist Church alongside her nephew Norman Roach and his wife, Gloria R. Roach (deceased).

Ruth leaves to cherish her memory, her twin sister, Ruby Roach Satterwhite of Washington, D.C.; sisters, Wilma Roach Young of Charlotte, NC, and Hildred Roach Stafford of Upper Marlboro, MD; and her sister-in-law, Claudine Roach of Albemarle, NC. She is also survived by special nephews, Norman Roach, Mark Satterwhite, Sr. and Patrick Young; special nieces, Marlene Brooks (Julius), Tasha Roach, Charlene Young, Tommyzee Tinsley, Senetra Young (Lindsey), Nellie Rawls; along with a host of other relatives, and dear friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Roach and Pearl Caldwell Roach; her brothers, Harold Roach, Clarence Roach (Corrine), Mason Roach, Ervin Roach, Donald Roach, and Holland Roach (Fronia); and her sisters Geneva Roach Campbell and Hazeline Roach Taylor.

Ruth’s legacy of love, strength, faith, and devotion to family will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and cherished her.
