Ruthie Mae Foster Haynes was born on December 16, 1945 to the late Lela Mae Scales and late Guice Foster, Sr. in Hamburg, Arkansas. She departed this life on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was previously married for 45 years and from this union four children were born. Ruthie made Charlotte, NC her home in 2010. She faithfully attended New Covenant Bibleway Church, later becoming a member and was ordained as a Mother of the church on Mother's Day, May 12, 2019.
In her retirement years, she kept busy dedicating her time as a volunteer at the Bette Rae Thomas Recreational Center on Tuckasegee Road in Charlotte, NC serving lunch for the Senior Citizens. At the c enter, Ruthie was also an avid Bid Whiz player and enjoyed calling bingo for her friends on Fridays. She loved visiting the casinos in Cherokee and played Pokeno every 3 rd Saturday .
Ruthie was preceded in death by two sisters , Betty Foster Tolefree and Bertha Lee West; and three brothers , Joe Williams, Sr., Guice Foster, Jr . and Allen Gibbs.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, Caroline Haynes of Zachary, LA, Jackie Haynes of Winston-Salem, NC, and Denise Ruff of McLeansville, NC; one son, Robert Haynes of Greensboro, NC; two brothers, Johnnie Foster, Sr. (Jewel) of Pine Bluff, AR and Howard Scales of Monticello, AR; one sister, Diane Scales of Milwaukee, WI; seven grandchildren – Nicole and Quinton Crawley of Pensacola, FL; Jaden, Jordan and Cameron Ruff of McLeansville, NC, Nyla Walker of Greensboro, NC, and Bryson Haynes of Greensboro, NC. Also cherishing the memories of Ruthie is her special friend, Ms. Bessie Lewis, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, church family, and card players from the Bette Rae Center.
