Our beloved matriarch Sadie Mae Thames was sent from heaven on September 1, 1928, in Hartsville, SC to the late Silas and Lorene Hawkins. Sadie Mae lived her life with a zeal and passion for Jesus Christ. She encouraged all children and grandchildren, and all that she met to live their lives as righteous and holy as possible.
Sadie Mae never met a stranger as all that she met she claimed as her own; her home was always welcoming and open to those in need. She loved to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and sang praises to him even into the end of her days here on earth. Her final message that she leaves is the message of Jesus Christ as she prayed that we all be ready when Jesus returns.
Sadie Mae leaves to mourn her five daughters: Meter Black (JD) of North Carolina, Ruth Wright of New Jersey, Calperdis Jessup (Ronald) of North Carolina, Gretchen Wiley (Cleveland) of North Carolina, Sadie Singleton (Will) of North Carolina, and her three sons, Silas Singleton (Debbie) of New York City, Rufus Singleton (Florence) of North Carolina, and Marcus Thames of North Carolina, over 60 grandchildren, over 100 great grandchildren, over 20 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
