Sam Sanders, Jr., 67 of Charlotte, passed away on November 23, 2021 at Levine & Dickson, Huntersville.

Sam Sanders Jr. was born on April 22, 1954, in Charlotte, NC to the late Sam Sanders Sr. And Precious Weaver Sanders.

He attended Charlotte Mecklenburg schools and graduated from Myers Park High School in 1972. He was active in sports, playing both football and basketball.

Sam worked at just a few odd jobs after graduation until he became employed by Duke Power/Energy and retired in 2019 after 47 years of service.

He was raised in Greater Mt. Sinai and accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age. Sam participated in various activities and organizations in the church. He coached the girls' basketball team, he sang with and served as president of the Young Adult Choir and the Male Chorus. He was a member of the Crown Ministry, Men's Ministry, the Sound Ministry and other committees and auxiliaries. Sam also served as the church treasurer and was a faithful member of the Trustee Board.

He loved family gatherings, working around the house, building and fixing things, and watching westerns, and his favorite Dallas Cowboys play football.

Sam leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 29 years, Anita Edwards Sanders. His children: LaShawn Barksdale-Byfield (Percival), Anita Rainey-Wallace, Melanie Rainey, Antwan Rainey, Latoya Sanders-Sahadeo (Kevin), Marc Kirkpatrick, and Samantha Denise Sanders (fiancé-Curtis Norris), twelve grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 4 sisters in-law, and 1 brother in-law. He had several long-time friends that he considered as brothers and sisters and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
