February 24, 2026
Sandra Ann White, 79, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center in Huntersville, NC.
Sandra Ann Holmes White, affectionately known as Sand or Sandy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Sandy was born September 10, 1946, to the late Collin Brown and the late Ethel and Herbert Morris, Sr. She was raised in Andrews, SC, where she was educated in the Georgetown County School System and proudly graduated from Rosemary High School in 1965. That same year, Sandy married her high school sweetheart, Willie L. White Jr., affectionately known as Trig, (who preceded her in death). The couple relocated to New York and from this union two children were born, Kevin J. White (who preceded her in death) and Tanisha D. White.
Sandy was a dedicated and hard-working woman. She built a distinguished career with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in New York City before later joining the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System, where she served in Food & Nutrition Services.
Faith was the cornerstone of Sandy's Life. At a young age, she became a member of Mount Lebanon AME Church in Andrews, SC. Upon relocating to New York, she joined Bethel AME Zion Church in Far Rockaway, New York.
After making Charlotte her home in 1995, she became a beloved member of Moore's Sanctuary AME Zion Church where she became a member of the Usher Board, the Culinary Committee, and also a member of the Spiritual Links Ministry.
Sandy had a gift for bringing people together. She cherished time with her family, especially her siblings. She never missed the opportunity to laugh, joke and simply have a good time. A true sports fan, Sandy could often be found cheering on her favorite basketball and football teams with passion and enthusiasm.
Sandy leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Tanisha White of Charlotte, NC; a stepson, Lenny Monroe of Queens, NY; three grandchildren, Aaron White and Takeya Brevard of Charlotte, NC and Shakeya Brevard of Durham, NC; one very special bonus great-grandson, Tylan Horton of Charlotte, NC; five sisters, Linda Bryant of Georgetown, SC, Barbara Morris, Joyce Sessions (Kenneth), Andrea McCray and Judy Cooper (Bernard); and two brothers, Robert Brown and Michael Morris, all of Andrews, SC; a devoted circle of nieces and nephews who all adored their Aunt Sand, as well as a host of family and friends whose lives she touched deeply.
Sandy was a woman of warmth, laughter, and unwavering faith. She will be profoundly missed and forever loved.
