Sharon Elaine Young, 61, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Friday, September 6, 2024.

Sharon Elaine Young was born July 4, 1963, to the late Willie Young and Eurania B. Young.  She is survived by her aunt, Virgie Bryan; her eight siblings, William T. Young, Bruce L. Bryan (Wilma), Reverend Sheila Council, Brian L. Young (Andreen), Saundra Y. Sanders (Stacy), Selestine H. Young, William B. Young (Karie), and Kenneth B. Young (Clarissa).

She and her siblings were nurtured in the church at a very young age.  She was a longtime member of Statesville Avenue Presbyterian Church where she was involved in many youth activities.  Later, she and her children became members of C.N. Jenkins Presbyterian Church where she continued to serve and strengthen her relationship with God.  In her most recent years, she attended Kingdom Covenant Church where they opened their doors for Sharon to serve the Lord with gladness.

She was a dedicated and caring teacher at Sunshine and Ladybug Daycare for many years.  She enjoyed doing engaging activities to excite and motivate her little learners.  She was recognized and praised for her nurturing and creative spirit in the classroom  Her love and passion for teaching all ages was evident throughout her years as an educator.

Sharon was a graduate and alumni of West Charlotte High School - Class of 1981 (DUB-C).  She loved and cherished her school and classmates.  She was true to the pledge, "Once a Lion, always a Lion!"  In her final days, she continued to stay in touch with her classmates, participating in school activities and class reunions.  She was known for keeping everyone in touch through Facebook, phone calls and everyday conversations.

Sharon leaves many fond memories of growing up with her siblings and cousins.  Highlights of growing up in the Young household were outdoor play and gatherings at Grandma Laney's house.  She was very involved with girl scouts and later became a committed girl scout leader.  Her desire to care and serve others was an important part of her life and even went as far as preparing and delivering breakfast to children in her neighborhood.  She was truly a "people person" who was loved and cherished by many.

Sharon's four surviving children are Ebonee R. Young "Nay Nay", Eurania C. Young "CeCe", Jaquasha N. Young "Quay Quay", and Steven A. Young.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jaylen Young, Bria Young-Burris, Amiya Young-Burris, Zoe Brewer, and Sayge Young; great-grandchildren, Jamya Young, Giana Young, Dallas Lisenby and Naelani Knight; and godson, Landen Tucker.  She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

We know Sharon is in a peaceful place where there are no more tears, no more death, no more sorrow, no more crying, and no more pain.  She will forever be missed, cherished and loved by her family and friends.
