Mr. Shawn Cleavon Stitt, 48 of Charlotte, was called to rest on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at his residence.  He was the only child born to his mother, Mary B. Stitt and the late Mr. Johnny Black on August 6, 1973 in Charlotte, NC.

Shawn gave his life to the Lord and joined Oak Grove Baptist Church.  Shawn's love and passion was playing drums for his church and for professional groups such as The Brooklyn Allstars of Brooklyn, NY and others.

Shawn graduated from Harding High School and attended Knoxville College in Knoxville, TN.  Shawn became a mason which he loved to be a part of.

Shawn was a cab driver for Yellow Cab Company.  He loved driving for others and taking them everywhere.  Shawn had a passion and love for people.  He met no strangers. He would claim you family whether or not he remembered your name; you were his family.

Shawn had a very BIG Heart and a Good Personality.  He loved making you laugh.  Shawn really cared and loved his mother, Mary.  He would cheer her up when she was down.

Shawn loved and cherished his two daughters, Qutazia LaShon Fewell-Smyre (Demetrice) of Gastonia, NC, Zamariah Caldwell of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren; four sisters, Bernadette Stitt of Charlotte, Quartiz Horton (Jerry), Ashley Black, Retired MSG United States Army, Courtney Austin (Antwan) of Kansas City, KS; one brother, Angelo Johnny Black; two uncles, Ervin Crowder and James Black, both of Charlotte, NC; five aunts, Shirley McDonald and Mary Louise Petras, both of Charlotte, NC, Martina Streater (George) of Wingate, NC; Patricia Crowder (his favorite) and Elizabeth Crowder, both of Monroe, NC; two favorite nieces, Jasmine Belton and Jelieha Frazier of Gastonia, NC; favorite cousins, Demetrice McDonald of Charlotte, NC and Sharon Belk Jones of Ellerbe, NC; favorite god brothers, Mike Alston, Mike Leach, Deputy Sheriff Daryl Frazier, all of Charlotte, NC; special friend, Robin Lynch of Charlotte, NC; father figures who Shawn looked up to and respected Willie P.
