Sheila Nicole Davis, 53, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Atrium Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, NC.

Sheila Nicole Davis, a beloved sister, daughter, aunt, devoted community leader, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, in Charlotte, North Carolina, just a few weeks shy of her 54th birthday.

Sheila’s journey began on June 28, 1972, in Warrenton, North Carolina, where she and her twin sister were born. She grew up splitting her time between Richmond, Virginia, and Charlotte, North Carolina, building deep roots in the communities she would come to serve so passionately.

A lifelong learner with a sharp mind, Sheila achieved a major milestone in 2019 when she graduated cum laude from Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU). Her intelligence was matched by her creative spirit, where she found great joy and peace throughout her life in playing the flute and becoming a published poet (Enduring Love).

Sheila was a pillar of her local community in Charlotte. Known as the ultimate resource for anyone trying to navigate the area, she dedicated her time and leadership to improving the lives of those around her. She served with distinction as the Secretary of the Resident Organization of Charlottetowne Terrace for four years, and concurrently poured her energy as a member of their Resident Advisory Council (RAC).

To know Sheila was to know a warmth that could light up any room. She was friendly, greeting everyone she crossed paths with an infectious cheer and a genuine smile. Yet, beneath her welcoming demeanor lay a fierce, unbreakable strength. Sheila was fiercely protective, and “she did not play” when it came to defending her family, her friends, or anyone she held dear.

Sheila is survived by her devoted father, Ronald Davis; and her loving sisters, Patricia (Kevin) Dyson, Shikita Davis, Charonda Avens, and her twin sister, Sharon Davis, with whom she shared a lifelong, inseparable bond. She leaves behind her cherished nieces and nephews, Darren Dyson, Kayla Dyson, Shikira Adams, and Douglas Thomas Jr. She is also survived by a large, loving circle of aunts and uncles: Reginald (Pamela) Ramey, Marie (Phil) Downey, LeGretta Cheek, Kathy Steele, Sarah Cheek, Deborah (Milton) Kirby, Brenda Cheek, Vivian Broadie, Mildred Davis, Leavonia Alexander, Lyndel (Richard) Barnes, Henry Davis, and Millard Davis, as well as a host of loving cousins, friends, and caregivers.

Sheila was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Elizabeth Avens, and her dear nieces, April Dyson and RoseMary Davis.

Her loss leaves an undeniable void in the hearts of her neighbors, her community, and most deeply, her family. Sheila’s bright smile, loyal heart, and unwavering dedication to others will never be forgotten.
