Obituary

Sherrylyn A. Liburd, 51 of Charlotte, originally from St. Croix US Virgin Islands, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020. She was born to Lawrence Liburd and the late Disney James, on the beautiful island of St. Croix, U.S.V.1., on August 24, 1968.  Growing up on the island of St. Croix, Sherrylyn, also known as, "Sherry" to many, was involved in many activities like the Upward Bound educational program, which ignited her passion for writing to becoming her family's first Urban Radio Disc Jockey, at Isle 95.  Thereafter, Sherrylyn spent several years living in Plainfield, New Jersey working various jobs.  This is where Sherrylyn rekindled her first love-her relationship with God, and found her church family.  As a faithful member of her church, Sherrylyn then moved to Charlotte, NC in efforts to continue to uphold her Christian values throughout her life.  Sherrylyn's gift with words allowed her to write and publish her first Christian Novel Cecelia's Second Chance , which is currently has a five star rating on Amazon.  Sherrylyn also enjoyed writing poetry, bible study, watching movies, traveling, spending time with family and friends.  Most of all, Sherry was a loving, protective sister and auntie, faithful and true friend, never complained, had a genuine and quiet-spirit, yet spoke her mind, humble and firm in what she believed, and a devoted Christian, who loved the Lord.

Sherrylyn is survived by four brothers: Stephen Liburd, Seymour Liburd, Darryn Liburd, and Leroy Springer; and six sisters: Eulyn Halliday, Heather Liburd, Melissa Liburd, Yasmin Farrell, Kristen Farrell, and Laurissa Liburd.  Sherrylyn is also survived by twelve nephews and nieces: Dante Hanley, Anieka Halliday, Rashid Charles, Atina Halliday, Akira Halliday, Da'Daisha Liburd, Jaden Farrell-Baxter, Kylee St. Fort, Karissa St. Fort, Tristan Liburd, Shiloh Henery, and Noah Henery; and in addition, two great-nieces, Aniyah Halliday and Layla Charles.  Moreover, Sherrylyn leaves her step-mother Elizabeth Liburd, cousin Hilda Hodge, and a host of other family, church family and friends.
