Life's Journey

Shirley Ann McDowell was born on August 7, 1949 to the late Jonah Lindsay and Mabelle McDowell and departed this earthly life on July 14, 2020.

Shirley was educated at Lincoln County High School in Lincolnton, NC. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending quality time with her family.

She was a dedicated daughter, (there was absolutely nothing she wouldn't so for her parents) and a loyal sister and confidant. If there was a known need in the family, you could count on her support. Rather it was her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces or nephews. She was willing to help whenever and however she could.

Shirley is preceded in death by four brothers, Mack McDowell, Charles McDowell, Theodore Lindsay, Johnny McDowell and three sisters Mary Anderson, Christina Sherill and Betty McDowell. She is survived by her husband Gary Klutz, two daughters Carla Elmore and Teresa McDowell (Corey) and son Randy McDowell all of Charlotte, NC. Three sisters Barbara Walker of Charlotte NC, Elizabeth Hall of Denver NC, and Carrie Johnson (Ulysses) Stanley NC. Five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two aunts Eliza Gibson and Ella McCorkle both of Stanley NC and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
