Shirley J. Stitt, 59 of Charlotte, ascended into Heaven on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 1:45 a.m.  Shirley, or "Shirley Mirley," as she was affectionately called by family, was born to Martha J. Mobbly and Melvin Simpson on October 6, 1962.  She was born in Chester County, South Carolina, where she spent her adolescent years.

Shirley moved to Charlotte, North Carolina when she was 16 years old.  She graduated from Olympic High School in 1980.  After high school, Shirley volunteered as a candy stripe nurse at a nursing home for a short time.  She later gained employment in the bakery/food service industry.

Shirley was well respected, humorous, beautiful, loving, an independent woman, and then some.  She was good with children.  Shirley was a creative force in making something from nothing.

In the Spring of 1988, Shirley married Nathaniel Stitt with whom they shared her only child, Emily Stitt.

Left to cherish precious memories are her husband, Nathaniel Stitt; daughter, Emily Stitt; three granddaughters, Kymonie Gilmore, Keasia Gilmore and Marli Stitt; brother, Bobby Jordan (Sharon); stepsisters, Betty Caldwell, Margaret Davis; stepbrothers, James Mobley, John Mobley; and a host of other family and friends.
