Jessie Camps Gunn was born on May 10, 1933 in Cherryville NC and was the oldest daughter of 13 children to the late Isaac and Hannah Camps of Charlotte NC. She departed this life on March 29, 2021 at 3:15am at Novant Health Matthews NC.
Jessie was a faithful member of the United House of Prayer for All People throughout her entire life. She worked as Youth Department Secretary at the Mother House in Charlotte NC and over a decade as General Secretary in Greensboro NC. She last attended Statesville Avenue #2 where she served as Secretary, Mistress of Ceremonies, and on the Queen Board.
After fasting for 31 days in 1963 she received the H oly Ghost under the leadership of Bishop McCullough. She was active in many activities and clubs at the House of Prayer. Her belief and faith in God was Strong. Bishop McCullough called her "the bright light".
She was preceded in death by her son Apostle Dwight Ross, brothers, Edward, Robert, Jethro , and Josh Camps 2 sisters, Dorothy Davis and Deloris Cook all of Charlotte, NC.
She leaves to cherish her memory, children, Barnette Bernard Ross (Phyllis), Charlene Nolen, Isaac Maurice Ross (Robin), all of Charlotte NC, 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, three brothers, Calvin Camps, Donnie Camps (Shirley), Alfonso Camps, three sisters, Gloria Alexander, Gwendolyn Camps, and Patricia Camps, all of Charlotte NC, daughter in law, Brenda Ross and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
