For those of us who are blessed with an earthly existence, there is a time to be born and a time to die. The earthly life of Stanley Gregory began November 30, 1953. Being obedient to the will of the Master, he answered the call and quietly slept away at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC, on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, after an extended period of illness.
Stanley was born in Chester, SC. He was preceded in death by his mother, Magdalene, and stepfather, James A. Laws.
At an early age, he attended Sandy River Baptist Church and Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church in Chester, SC. He received his education in the Chester County public school system.
Growing up, Stanley developed a strong work ethic which remained with him even after retirement. For approximately 20 years, he was employed by C & T Refinery in Charlotte, NC. Afterwards, he became employed by Amber Jack Seafood & Steaks Restaurant in Cramerton, NC, where he was employed as a chef for approximately 25 years.
At the restaurant, Stanley was greatly loved by owner, Jimmy Karros, and the staff. They took very good care of him during his final time of employment when he insisted on still going in to work. His friend and coworker, Susan Alvarez, also served as his caretaker and assisted his sister Cathy in getting him to and from doctor appointments and treatments.
To know Stanley was to love him. He will truly be missed b his family and friends who are comforted in knowing that he has a permanent resting place with no more sickness, only love and eternal peace. Stanley leaves to cherish many fond memories: 2 Daughters: Alicia Kennerly (Dwayne) of Upper Marlboro, MD: Michelle Hayes of Rock Hill, SC; and 1 Son, Michael Hayes of Rock Hill, SC. He also leaves to mourn cherished memories; 2 loving brothers and 1 sister: Filmore F. Gregory (Essie) of Brooklyn, NY; Charles A. Gregory of Winston-Salem, NC; and Cathy Maxwell of Charlotte, NC. Stanley is also survived by 6 Grandchildren, a host of Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and family members.
