Mr. Steven Maurice Cooper (Coco), son of Ms. Doretha Cooper - Davis and the late Mr. Chester Bethea, Jr. was born September 26, 1967 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 3, 2023 at his home.

Steven was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System where he attended Harding High School. He was a faithful member of Moore's Sanctuary AME Zion Church, where he was a member of the Voices of Joy and the Spiritual Links.

Steve loved the Lord, and he loved God's people. His sweet spirit and legacy remain as a heart print on all the lives he touched; and we are reminded of Micah 6:8: "He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?" When we reflect on Steve's life and our many encounters and conversations with him, we will be forever reminded of his goodness, humbleness, and the kind words he always shared with the people around him.

Steve had a special relationship with many people; but, especially his mother, and late-aunt, Elaine—who predeceased him by only 18 days. Steven's favorite things to do was shopping and cooking. Before his health declined, he worked in food service. He was loved by many and he will be dearly missed.

Steven leaves to cherish his forever memories his mother, Doretha Cooper-Davis; brother, Brian F. Bethea, Sr. (Rose); aunt's, Shirley McCullough and Tangee Kizer (Terry); uncle, Robert Cooper Sr. (Ernestine); nephews; Xavier, Brian, Jr.; Nieces, Bianca, Brianna and Brittany; great uncle, Wallace Pruitt and a host of cousins and friends.
