Steven L. Reid, 69, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Atrium Health-University in Charlotte, NC.

Steven L. Reid, better known as “Pokey,” was born January 27, 1956, to the late Norris Brown and the late Margaret Haley. 

Steven received his formal education through the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and Job Corps. He worked as a chef with Sonesta Hotels. Pokey’s special dish for family and friends was his mouth-watering BBQ ribs.

He will be sorely missed by his family. Steven was a joy to be around, fun loving and he adored his family. He was an avid Washington Redskins (Commanders) fan.

In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his sisters, Janet Farley and Janice Lewis; and his nephew, Darrell Reid.

Steven leaves behind to cherish his fondest memories siblings, Brenda Watts of Charlotte, Harriett Honeycutt (Mel) of Huntersville, Jeffery Reid of Charlotte and Kim Bailey of Charlotte; six nieces; two nephews; along with several great-nieces, great-great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends, Steve Horton and Steve Boyd; along with many relatives and friends. A special thank you to his great-nephew, Christian Reid, for all of his time and support shown during his time of illness.
