Tekeya "Keya" Chevon Roberson Jones, 44, departed this life on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Regency Hospital in Florence, South Carolina. She was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 6, 1978, to Gary Wallace and the late Trina Irene Roberson.

In addition to her mother, Keya was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Isaiah Roberson, Sr. and Mary Lou Roberson and paternal grandmother, Rosa Lee Wallace.

Keya was educated in the Charlotte/Mecklenburg County School System. She graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1997. Keya attended college at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina; in 2005; she graduated from Shaw with a degree in Criminal Justice. She had a strong desire to pursue a career in criminal justice but was not able to due to the onset of her illness.

Keya lived in Charlotte the majority of her life and lived in Georgia for some years as well. Keya worked at various positions during her adult life including Waddell High School and Sprint. She was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church for most of her life.

Keya enjoyed spending time with her sons and watching them play a variety of sports.  She also loved spending time with family and friends at cook outs, going out to eat, and comedy shows. Keya was a great cook. She liked to travel, lean new line dances, and listening to music. Keya loved frozen iced tea which she would eat with a spoon. She always kept a cup in the freezer, in fact, there's a cup of frozen iced tea in the freezer right now.

Left to cherish precious memories are her three sons, Rajuhon Jones, Jr. (Ester), Keoon Jones, and Aiden Jones; her father, Gary Wallace; her brother, Garry Roberson; her sister, Gail Simpson; nephews, Mason Roberson, and Shawn Hammond, Hr., all of Charlotte, NC; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
