Elder Terence A. Robinson was born to the late Annie S. Robinson and William H. Robinson, Sr on August 11, 1960 in Charlotte, NC . He graduated from Independence High School in 1978. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Johnson C. Smith University in 1984. In 1990, h e received his Masters of Divinity from Morehouse School of Religion at ITC , Atlanta, Georgia .
Elder Robinson received his call to the ministry at the Greater Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC in 1982 and was ordained as an Elder in 1991. After much prayer and guidance, God led him into the prison ministry where he began as a volunteer at the United States Penitentiary in Atlanta, GA.
In 1994, he accepted a full-time chaplain position at U SP Atlanta, and completed a one-year residency program with the Grady Hea l thCare system . His ministry as a Federal Prison Chaplain took him to six different institutions throughout the United States. He retired in 2017 as Supervisory Chaplain from Metropolitan Correctional Center , New York City , after completing 23 years of service with the Federal Bureau of Prisons . In his ministry as chaplain, he provided pastoral care to both staff and inmates always keeping in mind his foundation for ministry, St. Luke 4:18 . (The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty, them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord) As an ordained E lder, h e was an active member of the National Primitive Baptist Convention serving for many years in various capacities. He served on the Board of Evangelism, and as a Ministerial Ethics instructor for GW Gibson School of Religion.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Lori Jones Robinson of 30 years , two ch ildren, Brian Robinson of Charlotte , NC and Jessica Robinson of Greensboro , NC ; three sisters, Deborah Robinson of Durham, NC, Teresa R. Jackson (Reggie) of Charlotte, NC, and Audrea Robinson of Orlando, FL; two Aunts, Sally Stinson of Charlotte, NC, and Barbara Nesbit (Leroy) of Charlotte, NC; three nieces Joya Jackson, Amanda Hollis, and Ariel Hollis, all of Charlotte, NC; a nephew Brandon Jackson of Charlotte, NC ; special sisters-in-law Valerie Hollis ( David ) of Columbia, S.C. and Teresa Wiley of Sumter, S C ; a special Mother-in-law Mrs. Geneva Jones of Sumter, S.C.; brothers-in-law Melvin Jones ( Lu sann ) and Jimmy Jones of Sumter, S.C.; and many other special relatives and friends.
