Mr. Thomas Franklin Green Jr., 85 of Charlotte, passed away on Sunday October 25, 2020 at Novant Health-Presbyterian.  He was born November 6, 1934 in Malvern, Arkansas to the late Elizabeth Henson Green and Thomas Franklin Green, Sr.  He graduated from Malvern Colored High School and then went on top obtain a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arkansas-Pine Buff and a Master's degree from Fordham University in New York City.

Thomas, also affectionately known by many as, "Tom" or just "Green", was a member of the Concord Baptist Church of Christ in Brooklyn, New York of over 50 years.  However, in Arkansas, he was often seen playing the piano for his hometown church in Malvern.  To this day, one of his favorite songs to be played was "Yes, God is Real".

Thomas served in the Army from 1957-1959 as a Medic.  He was employed with the New York City Department of Social Services working in many roles, the last being Supervisor at the NYC Family Court prior to his retirement.  Additionally, he was a lifelong member of well over 50 years of his beloved Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.  When he wasn't wearing his Alpha hat, Thomas was often seen wearing his blue New York Giants cap.  He would jokingly tease any Dallas Cowboys fan that the Giants were going to win!

Thomas had a friendly, outgoing spirit and was always on the go.  He would say "hello" to anyone whether he knew the person or not.  And, whenever asked "Tom, how are you?", he would always respond, "as the song says, I Won't Complain".

Thomas was widowed by his wife, Cozetta Hirsch Green and leaves his daughter, Melaine Elizabeth Green Witherspoon, and treasured son-in-law, Victor Gilroy Witherspoon Sr., his grandson, Victor Gilroy Witherspoon II (24), granddaughter, Victoria Nicole Witherspoon (33), great-grandson, Cameran, Jr. (7), sisters and brothers-in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and dear friends.
