Thomasena Jackson Jones, 72 of Charlotte, passed away on May 6, 2020 at her residence. She was born January 1, 1948, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the first born of the late Edith Mae Herron Crosby.
Thomasena began her life's journey at the young age of 14 when she took care of her siblings and others; always lending a helping hand and maintaining work. While continuing her education, she earned her diploma and nursing degree/certificate. Thomasena enjoyed keeping (all and everything) a must clean and orderly way of living! Years later, balancing her own family and married with children, she became a social worker still helping others, then proceeding to her career in nursing with Charlotte Memorial Hospital (today known as Carolinas Medical Center) for many years from which she retired.
Mother Jones loved the Lord and the church. She took her role as a servant of God seriously. She was always willing to help any way she could. She missed being able to join us on Sunday mornings. She would often say "if I could only get to the church." She knew we would be praying and making a joyful noise unto the Lord. She was Faithful, Dependable, Loyal, Trustworthy, A Prayer Warrior, Loved to Sing and Praise God. Positions held at New Life Trinity Church over the years were: Associate Minister, Mother of the Church, Sunday School teacher, President of Usher Board, Church Secretary and Trustee Board Member, and member of the Birthday Committee.
Mother Jones was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Jackson, Brenda Lee Robinson Porter; one brother, Thomas Jackson; and two grandchildren, Cianchez Michael McDuffie and Trevon Kyree Jones.
Mother Thomasena Jackson Jones leaves to cherish her memories four brothers, Gregory Jackson, Antonio Herron, Robert Crosby of Charlotte, NC and Thomas Jackson of Monroe, NC; two sisters, Melina Jackson and Minister Bernadette Jackson Blount of Monroe, NC; her sons and daughters, Lolatia Simmons, Teuwanda Parker, Cleveland (CJ) Jones, III, Eric Jones; adopted daughter, Denise Jackson; fifteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; Spiritual Sister, Nesshai Gamble; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
