None of us know the day or hour we are to leave this earth, only God knows. But we are to live a life which leaves an imprint on the hearts of the people we meet and love on our journey through life. Timothy did just that.
Mr. Timothy Bernard Cole (Tim), 58 of Charlotte, departed this earthly life on July 4, 2021 at Atrium Health Mercy Hospital. He was born on August 19, 1962 to Odis Cole and the late Jacqueline Cole.
Timothy was affectionately known as "Tim or Timmy". He loved his family and friends. When you received a text from him it would always read the same; Wyd (What you doing) or Hyd (How you doing)? A text message from him was just to let you know he was thinking of you.
Tim was best husband, son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. You didn't see him very often without his wife, Theresa, his soulmate and love of his life. He loved his father and his sister, often speaking the words; "I don't know what I would do without you." A big smile would light up the room when he saw his only nephew, whom he loved dearly. Tim was so proud of his nephew. His nickname for him was "Shack a Tack (Shaquille)." His step-children loved him dearly and nicknamed him (Papa). Before Timothy passed, he was able to speak just enough to say that he loved his family, and he became strong enough to give out kisses. We knew then he was ready to get his wings.
Timothy attended Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and later graduated from Harding High School in 1980. He then decided to enlist in the military where he was stationed as a Marine in the Philippines from 1981 -1986.
Due to an illness, he was discharged from the military after faithfully serving for 5 years. Timothy then began to work at the Merita Bakery until the business relocated from Charlotte, NC. He worked at Mercy Hospital as a security guard until his illness progressed.
Celebrating with Timothy in transcendence are his mother, Jacqueline Cole, grandmothers, Mildred Whitmire and Margaret Whitmire, grandfather, James Whitmire, uncles, Billie Whitmire and Jerald Black, aunt Cardella Whitmire, and stepdaughter, Temika Anderson.
Among those who remain to cherish his memories: His beloved wife, Theresa Cole, father, Odis Cole, sister, Lisa Mack (Chip), nephew, Shaquille Newman and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, step-children and step-grandchildren.
