Tommie Lee Knox, 85, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2025, at his home in Charlotte, NC, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 1, 1940, in Rock Hill, SC, the son of the late Willie Samuel Knox, Sr. and Bessie Mae Patton Knox.  A devoted Christian, Tommie joined Union Baptist Church at an early age.  He was educated in the York County School System and graduated in 1958 from Clinton College.

Following his graduation, Tommie relocated to Brooklyn, NY.  He later joined the United States Army and was subsequently deployed to Vietnam, where he honorably served his country.
After completing military service, he returned to New York where he met the love of his life, Gloria Marrow. They were united in marriage on November 27, 1965.  Their union was blessed with two sons, Tyrone Knox and Vincent Romell Knox, both of Charlotte, NC.

Tommie eventually settled in Charlotte where he worked as a welder for the Westinghouse Turbine Nuclear Plant for 15 years until becoming disabled.

Tommie had a passion for cooking and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  He loved sport, talking on the phone, and especially cherished the holidays – Thanksgiving and Christmas were among his favorites.

In addition to his parents, Tommie was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister, Willie, Walter, Roy, Floyd, Lyle, Otis, Donnie and Billie Ray Knox and Dorothy Gettys.

Surviving to cherish his memory and continue his legacy of love are his devoted wife of 59 years, Gloria Marrow Knox; two sons, Tyrone and Vincent Knox (Lorraine); grandchildren, Japre Tivok Knox, Brandon Thomas and Katrina Smith; and three sisters-in-law, Hattie Knox, Geraldine Knox, and Theressa Wilkerson, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

His life and legacy will continue to live on through his beloved family and all who knew and loved him.
