Obituary

Valdouse McCoy also affectionately known as "Pop" and "Uncle Douse" by some was called home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 11:16 p.m.  Valdouse was one of 15 born to the late Reverend Charlie McCoy and Corinthia Moore McCoy of Harnett County, Lillington NC.  He was educated in the Harnett County school system.  Upon reaching the age of 18, he decided to relocated to Baltimore, MD to reside with an older brother and his wife Linwood and Carrie McCoy.  Valdouse thrived in Baltimore tremendously.  Having a love for music as well as being an outstanding vocalist he and his brother started a gospel group along with two other friends called "The Sons of Harmony" these men sang for the Lord in most of the local churches in Baltimore and neighboring states and cities.  While on a singing program, he met and married the love of his life, Cilemarie to whom he stayed married to for 52 years until the Lord called her home.

As a young man, Valdouse learned the trade of cement masonry becoming one of the best finishers in the Baltimore, DC metropolitan area.  In 1963, he became a member of the union Cement Mason's Local 43.  He worked on projects in the area as lead finisher such as John  Hopkins, Jones Falls Expressway,  the Metro Subway tunnels, the Inner Harbor, Bay Bridge, and even working at the White house. His last major project before retiring was Ravens M&T stadium.

Valdouse was led to Christ early on in life as a youngster by his parents.  He loved the Lord with all his heart and soul and had a very "peculiar" spiritual Ora about himself.  He always put Christ first in his life and had unwavering faith in God.  He was always conscious of the less fortunate and willing to lend a helping hand any way he could.  In the early 80's he joined the First Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Leo K Caesar. Because of his unique singing talent, he was recruited to be the anchor of the Male Chorus and elevated them to one of the best in the city.  Valdouse later life experience came when he joined his nephew's church Free Indeed Ministries under Pastor Kevin McCoy.

Here are the people that have cherished him.  3 sons Valgeron, Terry (deceased) and Mark McCoy, one daughter, Linda Fields-McCoy, eight grandchildren, Latoya, Maya, Chelsea, Chris Tucker McCoy, Na'Shay Allen, Brian, Brandon and Arielle Askew, 9 great grand and one great-great grand, one devoted daughter-in-law the late Jacqueline Karen Lightfoot-McCoy, one Brother, Rufus McCoy of Raleigh, 3 sister-in-law, Glenda Lynch of Rocky Mount, NC, Nellie McCoy of Springlake, NC, Georgia McCoy of Baltimore, MD and Tawanna Ayala affectionately know as "Daughter" and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
