Mrs. Valerie Ages, 61, of Charlotte, NC departed this life on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Atrium Pineville.

Mrs. Valerie Ages, daughter of the late Lewis Carlton McAfee and Claudia Dean Rouse, was born on September 24, 1962, in Fort Valley, Georgia.  She attended the schools of Peach County.

While attending Peach County schools, Mrs. Valerie met the love of her life, Mr. Lee Ages, who she was married to for 44½ wonderful years.  They settled in Akron, Ohio where they raised their two daughters, Chrystal and Courtni.

Mrs. Valerie was a member of Ernest Angley's Grace Cathedral in Akron, Ohio since 1998.  She loved the Lord and made it her mission to spread love to everyone she met.  In 2005, Mrs. Valerie and Mr. Lee moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to be near their children.  They became grandparents to four girls over the last 16 years.

Family was the most important thing to Mrs. Valerie after her relationship with Jesus Christ.  She spent as much time as she could making special memories with them.  Mrs. Valerie was affectionately known as "Gam" to her grand-children, "Auntie" to her many nieces and nephews, "Grand Ti" to her great-nieces and great- nephew, "Val" to her friends and other family members, and "Mrs. Valerie" to her colleagues and acquaintances.

Mrs. Valerie loved to help people.  She spent over 30 years working in different roles in administration.  Mrs. Valerie worked at the prosecutor's office and personnel department for the City of Akron for several years, Housing and Residence Life at UNC Charlotte for 13 years, and most recently at Hawk Ridge Elementary School in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Mrs. Valerie had an infectious smile that lit up every room.  The love of Jesus radiated through her pores.  She always gave God all the praise, honor, and glory.  Mrs. Valerie always found the time to uplift others through kind words, prayers, encouraging cards, or sharing her beautiful smile.

Mrs. Valerie was preceded in death by her father, Lewis McAfee; mother, Minister Claudia Rumph; stepmother, Bernice McAfee; father-in-law: George Ages, Sr.; grandmother, Dessie McAfee; and special aunt, Leila Jackson.

Mrs. Valerie is lovingly remembered by her husband, Mr. Lee; daughters, Dr. Chrystal Ages Brown (Jimmy) and Courtni Ages Brown (Boris); grandchildren, Camille Brown, Raven Brown, Makayla Brown, and Corrine Brown; siblings, Carla McAfee (Tyrone Brown), Andrew McAfee (Tomascina), Michael Davis, Sr., and Ethan Rumph; aunts, Dollie Mae Black, Mary Ann Coleman (John), and Linda McAfee; mother-in-law, Bessie Lee Ages; sisters-in-law, Clementine Ages, Linda Hillman, Jerrie Dean Wright (Obie), and Angela Robinson (James); brothers-in-law, George Ages, Jr. and Terry Ages (LaTonia); special nieces, Ciero McAfee and Vernessia Jackson; special nephews, Michael Davis, Jr., Madison Davis and Ethan Rumph; cousins, Kenya Coleman Hughes (John), Kevin Coleman, Kimbly McAfee, Alonzo McAfee, Keisha Jordan, Juan McAfee, and Brittany Ellis; best friends, Tina Jewell (Kevin), Andrea Evans, and Regina Riggins; prayer warriors and special friends, Linda Bacon and Brenda Allen; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and Grace Cathedral Church family members.
