Ms. Veola Lightner Bradley of Charlotte, daughter of the late John Albert and Ellen Jones Lightner, was born December 24, 1950 in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She departed this life on Friday, January 1, 2021, peacefully in her home.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Ellen Lightner, Johnsie Hayes and Margaret Ratchford and one niece, Aissatou Lightner.

Veola was a college graduate of Winthrop University, Rock Hill, South Carolina. She proudly served in the United States Airforce. She was a devoted employee with the South Carolina Welcome center, where she retired.

She was a faithful member of Word Fellowship Church in Lancaster, SC and a founding member of Abiezer Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC. She loved studying the bible with her family every morning. She especially loved sharing the bible with her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories one son Jamil Lightner (Kiesha) of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Caleb Lightner and Jayla Lightner; three sisters Martha Abercrombie (Woodrow), Helen Root (John) of Rock Hill, SC and Vanessa Watkins (Floyd) of Las Vegas Nevada; two brothers, Johnny Lightner (Pam) of Charlotte, NC and Jimmy Lightner (Sandra) of Columbia SC, two honorary sisters, Minetta Davis (Ernie) of Charlotte, NC and Yvonne Cardona of Fort Mill, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
