Veola Price Patterson was born on July 7, 1924 to the late Garnette Smith Reid and Charlie Price. She went to her eternal home on May 27, 2020 at Peak Resources Nursing Facility.

During her early years, she was raised in Pineville, NC and attended China Grove A.M.E. Zion Church. She met and married her late husband, Arthur Patterson, Jr. and to this union, she had five children. She then joined Jonesville A.M.E. Zion Church. She worked at the Shell Plant for many years. She also worked in the food service industry. After receiving further education, she worked at Mercy Hospital as a dietician until she retired to take care of her mother, step-father and uncle.

She was a devoted member of her church. She worked diligently and served on the Pastor's Aid, Missionary Board and she was a deaconess. She sang on the Gospel Choir, Amen Choir; she sung with the Spiritual Learners of Jonesville A.M.E. Zion Church. She loved to sing from the bottom of her heart. She continued to sing when she went into the nursing home for the residents there during Wednesday Bible Study. She was also a good cook. Her specialties for the church were potato salad, cabbage, fried apples and peach pies.

In addition to his parents and husband, Veola was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Reid and June Reid and three sons. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Mary L. Robinson of Charlotte; one son, Johnny Lee Patterson of Midland, NC; a special god daughter, Brenda Nash ("My Little Girl") of Charlotte, NC; a special roommate at Peak Resources, Mrs. Alberta Perkins ("Little One"); one nephew, Charles Reid (Rennea) of Charlotte, NC; eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and six greatgreat-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
