Ms. Vera Huntley, of Charlotte, passed away on Tuesday May 7, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Lester "Les" Rorie and Glennie Teal Rorie, was born March 7, 1925 in Monroe, NC. She had two brothers who preceded her in death, Clarence Rorie, Sr. and Roosevelt Rorie.
Vera was married to Noble Huntley and they had one son, Ernest Lee Huntley. Noble preceded Vera in death.
Vera was a dedicated long time member of Flag Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe, NC and St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church and her home church, Faith Memorial Baptist Church in Charlotte. She was a faithful member of the Usher Board and Hymn Choir at Faith Memorial. She truly loved the Lord.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, 34.
During recent years, she lived at the North Brevard Street Apartments where she enjoyed wonderful relationships with neighboring friends.
Her occupation was hospitality for the Simon Family who she loved for over 30 years. She was passionate and passed down traditions of service in ushering, singing on the choir, and being quite the Classical Proper Lady. She enjoyed most singing with the Hymn Choir, and her times with her family preparing meals, cooking together, setting the table and eating a family dinner with her closest loves ones. She was proud of her accomplishments of graduating school, her nieces and her family.
Mrs. Huntley is survived and loved by her son, Ernest Huntley (Toni). She cherished her daughter-in-love, Barbara Huntley and grandchildren, Shirell Huntley, Casena Michael (Victor) and Ernest L. Huntley, II (Kelley) of Charlotte and Krystle and Johnathan Huntley of Tacoma, WA; eleven great-grandchildren, Latavia Huntley, Quentin Huntley (Kaijae), Enique Quarles (Stanley), thurman Hill, Jr., Quaylin Hill, Ernest L. Huntley, III, Jade Huntley, of Charlotte and Amiri Levearia, Trinity and Troy Huntley of Tacoma, WA; and two great-great-granchildren, Tariq Sanford and Kaliyah of Charlotte. Vera adored her loving nieces, Glennie Mae Rorie, Mary Ruth Haskins, Carolyn Faulkner, Virginia Funderburk, Marie Williams, Mary Ann Rorie; and nephew, Clarence "Sonny Boy" Rorie Jr.; her first cousin and best friend, Bernice Lavigne; and a host of other relatives and friends.
