Obituary

Veronica Michelle Lowe, 68, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.

Veronica Michelle Lowe, also known as “Shell” or “V,” was born in Atlanta, Georgia on May 2, 1957, to her mother, Ms. Frances Lowe, now deceased. Veronica was the sixth of eight children. She passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Veronica accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior at an early age. She was baptized by Rev. R.B. Hawk of First Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Atlanta.

She attended Atlanta Public Schools and successfully graduated from David T. Howard High School in 1975. Veronica was an exceptional student who loved to learn. She went into the work force upon graduation, eager to be independent and self-reliant. She soon accepted employment at Nations Bank, now known as Bank of America, where she achieved advancement and served loyally for over 40 years. She enjoyed her job and was able to form lasting friendships that enhanced her life.

Shell was a pet owner; she loved her dogs while living in Charlotte. She parented and loved a total of six dogs, four dogs (Bossce, Two Socs, Busta and Boggie) preceded her in death; Bella and Tess are her surviving beloved pets.

Shell enjoyed being physically active and could be seen in her neighborhood walking her dogs. She would play sports when the opportunity presented itself. She had wonderful neighbors whom she could turn to for help and whom she would gladly do the same. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, encouraging everyone when she was sought out for advice but never hiding the truth or allowing you to avoid your own actions, good or bad. Having integrity and discipline in life was very important to her and she showed this in her choices in life.

Veronica loved life and took control of her challenges that came as she faced complications of Lupus, which later affected her kidneys. Becoming a dialysis patient, she went to her treatments faithfully. Over the years, she learned as much as possible about being a recipient of treatment, shared this publicly and encouraged those who found themselves in similar situations to be strong, work the diets, exercise, and keep your appointments. She taught us how not to complain about life’s situations, but keep moving forward. She corrected those things that she could and accepted those things that she could not; she understood the difference. She wanted everyone to enjoy life.

Veronica leaves five sisters, Deborah Parker (Leonard), Regina Wimberly, Robin L. Gibbs (Maurice), Francine Lowe, Vanessa Lowe; cousin, Hoderick Lowe; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; her sister by choice, Gloria Oates (Hubert), and her extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
