Ms. Veta Marie Huntley, 70, of Troutman, NC, departed this life on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Atrium Main.

Veta M. Huntley, born on July 16, 1954, in Charlotte, NC, to the late Walter Edward (Ed) and Dorothy (Dot) Fetherson, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was the matriarch of her family, a friend to all, and a constant source of support and care to anyone in need.

Veta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William A. Huntley, after 38 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter, Renee' Fetherson; her step-sons, Chris and Maurice Huntley; and her cherished grandchildren, Octavia Diaz (Jonathon), Hartford Cunningham Jr. and Brianna Huntley. She was also a proud great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Elijah, Madison, Camila, JJ, and Jaikai. In addition, she is survived by six siblings, Ronald Fetherson, Wanda Fetherson, Terisa Harris, Gregory Fetherson, Yvonne Fetherson-Polk and Dorothy Reid.  Two brothers, Derry and Terry, preceded her in death.  She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Yvonne Fetherson, Parsia Fetherson, and one brother-in-law, Charles Reid.

Veta had a deep love for her family, and her home was always open, filled with laughter and the delicious aroma of her cooking. She was known for her nurturing nature, whether as a caregiver, a loving wife, or a devoted mother and grandmother. Her recipes, passed down through generations, will remain a cherished memory.

Veta attended Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools until the 10th grade, and though she may have been known for her sternness in her earlier years, those who knew her best knew this was simply her way of showing love and care. Beneath her strong exterior was a heart of gold, and her family will forever remember her as the sweet, loving woman she truly was.

While her passing leaves an irreplaceable hole in the hearts of those who loved her, there is comfort in knowing her life was full of love, wisdom, and kindness. Her memory will live on through the lives she touched, and her love will continue to guide her family in the years to come.

Veta will be deeply missed, but her spirit will always be with us. May she rest in peace.
