In the mid-morning of May 22, 2021, Vincent Smith 87, of Charlotte, placed his hand in God's hand and went home.  He was born on the 31st day of March 1934, in Jamaica West Indies to David Smith and Hazel Blackstock.  He received his early education through the Jamaican School System.  After graduating high school, he attended Theology School.

At the age of 25, he emigrated to London England where he trained as an electrician.  He worked in various locations in England including The Royal Naval Academy, Westminster Abbey, and the shipyards of New Castle.  Ten years later he emigrated to the United States where he worked his trade at various schools around New York City.  Including as an independent contractor for commercial and residential operations.

He leaves behind his cherished wife Dorothy E. Smith of more than 52 years; his children, Philip Smith-Grimes, Michael Smith, Venice Smith, Jacqueline Lewin, Keith Smith and Zacqueline Bailey.  Along with 10 grandchildren, he is also survived by siblings: Sadie Richards, Hopeton "Sonny" Scott, Henrietta Latiboudere, Doreen Bennett, Norma Hall and Sonia Reid; as well as his best friend and Cousin Clinton Atkins, nephew Michael and many more.
