Vivian F.  Hairston, 96 of Charlotte, departed this life on Monday, April 4, 2022 at her residence.  She was born November 25, 1925, in Mooresville, North Carolina to parents, Mable Viola Byers Friday and Ernest Gilbert Friday.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Worthy DeWitt Hairston; and siblings, Francis Friday, Ernestine Lowman, Scotty Friday, Vera Maxwell, and Imogene Kendrick.

She is survived by her children, Vera DeVian and Vivian Frances; grandson, Courtney; great-granddaughters, Brittany and Makayla; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Vivian graduated from Johnson C. Smith University with a degree in Christian Education.  Her early career was spent as a teacher in Christian missionary schools, and she had a long career as a teacher in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.  She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  She was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Choir.  She loved spending time with family, attending worship services, reading, playing pinochle with her friends, "The Golden Girls," and she loved to laugh.
